The fall of ancient greek civilization
The fall of ancient Greek civilization was largely due to the exhausting twenty-seven year Peloponnesian War. The war greatly weakened the Spartans and the Athenians, making it easier for Phillip II of Macedon to invade. When the Macedonians attacked in the 330s (B.C.), the weakened city-states fell before Phillip's sly methods of attack and were too late in moving to defend themselves from a threat they should have seen coming.
