When Alexander was 20 years of age he became king . He was well prepared to lead. As a young boy he learned to ride a horse, use weapons, and command troops. When he became king he showed his military training had not been wasted. When the people of Thebans rebelled, he destroyed the city. About 6,000 Thebans were killed.
